Together We Will Endure

COVID-19 Update

Posted on March 15, 2020

In following with the mandating of business closures and for the health and safety of our community CrossFit Dūrātus is closed temporarily. We are daily monitoring the ongoing situation and will open back up when local and state health officials deem it’s appropriate. As much as we all love going to the gym - this is an incredibly serious time for our local community and we want to do our part to ensure the best possible outcome.

So, in light of our closing here are a few things to remember:

Fitness is cool AND it can be done in your backyard! The Duratus@home programing went live today. To try to help our members that do not have any equipment, we are “leasing” out Kettlebells and Dumbbells for the extent of our closure. Think of it like a “fitness library” and take care of the equipment in the same way you would a library book. Come to the gym today by 12:00 to pick up your equipment or coordinate with us in the following days.

Try something new - nobody likes a “one trick pony”. Use this time to develop a new skill or try a new hobby. Go hiking. Rock climb. Ride a real bike. Pick up a book. Teach yourself to dance in the mirror. CrossFit people are best when they are well rounded.

Use the extra time to recovery. Lean into healthy eating habits and let your body rest. 5 days of intense and heavy volume training for 52 weeks is not sustainable and honestly not good for your overall health. Take a rest, it’s ok.

Stay connected! Find ways to intentionally be in each others’ lives. Additionally, we have started a members only instagram account (@cfdathome) where we can stay connected over the next couple of weeks. We would love to see your videos, so tag us in your Duratus@home workouts. Let’s use technology to our advantage.

Lastly and most importantly - things will be OK. Yes, the CoronaVirus is absolutely tragic, but I am confident in the city of Spokane and the Dūrātus community. Together we are strong and we will stand shoulder-to-shoulder as we weather the storm. We appreciate you all more than you know.

Take care of each other and stay healthy.
